About DRC
From ordinary to extraordinary.
The Dallas Rowing Club is on a mission! We provide tools and resources for people to achieve their potential, and we do it through the community and sport of rowing. Since 1983 when DRC was founded, the club has focused on sharing and teaching amateur oarsmanship to Dallas area residents, with a particular emphasis on youth. Our rowing community is strong, bonded by a shared passion of discovering the intricacies of the sport of rowing and aspiring to levels of excellency.
Bachman Lake is our home.
DRC’s John Mullen Boathouse is located on Bachman Lake, a freshwater, 205-acre lake in northwest Dallas adjacent to Dallas Love Field Airport. Originally constructed in 1903, the lake today boasts a 5K hike and bike trail that circles the lake, and includes an exercise circuit with 16 stations. In addition to the DRC boathouse, the lake also hosts picnic areas and a pavilion, a recreational center, and indoor aquatic center. Rowers on Bachman Lake can expect to see a variety of geese and ducks, a grove of bald cypress trees, and an occasional aircraft landing or taking off from nearby Dallas Love Field.
We promote diversity. We prize equality. We practice inclusivity.
DRC follows a diversity, equality, and inclusivity (DEI) policy that includes everyone. We believe this policy will make a lasting impact because we can act as an agent of positive change not only in our rowing community, but also in our Dallas area communities.
We value safety.
DRC values safety. Our coaches teach, practice and enforce necessary safety rules. Members/guests are responsible for their seat in the boat, along with being aware of what is going on around them on the water and in the boathouse.
We adhere to US Rowing safety guidelines to ensure rowers are safe. Additionally, DRC provides stern and bow lights for early morning or late evening rows.
If you’ve never rowed before, we’ll teach you everything you need to know to be safe on the water in our Learn to Row course.
