Jeff joined the DRC Juniors coaching staff in November 2022. He started rowing as a Master’s rower in 2017 at DRC. He has been racing since 2018. He has raced in a variety of sprint and head race regattas in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. He has also attended the Craftsbury Outdoor Center training session.
Jeff’s favorite part of being a Juniors coach is being in a position to make each rower become the best they can be as defined by them. Rowing is a fabulous sport for juniors as it requires and rewards technique, concentration, and discipline in a low probability for significant injury sport, and it is a sport that they can be involved for the rest of their lives.
Off the water, Jeff lives in Dallas with his wife, Alison, and works for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as a protective security branch chief. He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School and is a Harvard University Senior Executive Fellow. He fills any spare time training for rowing.

Lauren joined the DRC Juniors coaching staff at the start of the 2017 fall season. Her love of the sport was born in 2008 when she joined Texas A&M Crew her freshman year. While at A&M, she raced in many of the same regattas as DRC: Heart of Texas, Pumpkinhead, Head of the Oklahoma, and Head of the Hooch.
Lauren has been coaching high school rowing since 2016 and her athletes have qualified for Youth Nationals and Junior Worlds, and continue to find success in college. One of her favorite things about coaching at the junior level is developing a passion for the sport in the next generation of rowers. Rowing requires not only skill, power, and fitness, but also willpower and mental toughness. Time and again, the skills and discipline learned through rowing transfer smoothly to many other aspects of the athlete’s life.
Off the water, Lauren lives in Fort Worth with her husband, four dogs, and one cat, and works for a life science company as a sales account manager. She fully appreciates the importance of time management for all student athletes as she recently completed her MBA at the University of Dallas and continues to row competitively for DRC.

Kellis joined the DRC Juniors coaching staff in the fall of 2023 after rowing for DRC as a junior and serving two consecutive years as team captain. She is currently continuing her education at the University of Texas at Dallas and is majoring in Forensic Accounting.
Kellis’ advice to novice rowers: Show up to practice even on your rough, stressed-out days. Your teammates are your best supporters to get you through hard times. So trust your team because they’ll always be your second home.
